I wanted to send this to you, in case it's one for you, or you had any other leads that you could help me with on this initiative.

The story and the opportunity

In May, I attended the opening night of the Human Rights and Arts Film Festival at ACMI. The film was 2040, a film by an Australian filmmaker who embarks on a journey to explore what the future would look like by the year 2040, if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet, and shifted them into the mainstream.

I walked out of the film and couldn't stop thinking about it. I decided I wanted to give more people the opportunity to see this film and to also raise some money for one of the key innovations that are portrayed in the film.

I have been working with the production company and one of the backers of the film, The Intrepid Foundation, to organise a screening to raise money for the Seaweed Regeneration initiative. Together with The Climate Foundation and the University of Tasmania, The Intrepid Foundation and 2040 are supporting an innovative marine permaculture initiative aimed at regenerating kelp forests. The project will set up Australia's first seaweed platform – one of the key solutions to climate change featured in 2040 – off Tasmania's eastern coast. Funds raised will be matched dollar for dollar by Intrepid.

The date of the screening is Wednesday 4 September at Hoyts Melbourne Central, we hope to have 300 people at the screening, although there is an opportunity to move to a larger screen, if we need it. The film will be followed by a panel/Q&A session that will include Anna Kaplan (Producer), and Leigh Barnes (Intrepid’s Chief Purpose Officer). Damon Gameau, the Director has pre-recorded a message for the screening, as he will be on paternity leave.

  Entry is by donation. The costs of the screening are approximately $6000, which I am currently assuming responsibility for. I am hoping to get support from 6 or more companies to cover the costs so that we can donate as much as possible to the project. I am hoping that your company would like to do so, and/or introduce others who would join us. We already have YOW! Conferences get on board.
  
  We are promoting the screening to our 5000+ meetup network, as well as the 600 people at LAST Conference on 30 July, our Spark the Change Melbourne conference network, and to all the other contacts Tabar has in software and IT product and consulting companies, in Melbourne. Solutions that are explored in the film, e.g small scale solar, autonomous vehicles, education of girls, resonate closely with the audience, and hopefully align with your values, too.

Your logo will appear on this website and on the screen in the cinema, before the film and during the Q&A. Also in social media…we’ve already been retweeted by the TV personality Wil Anderson, who has 500K followers!
